Redstick iCad App Reviews

For someone that is measuring existing properties, either residential or simple commercial buildings, this product will work very well for you. Coming from an AutoCAD backround, there are a few things that I would like to see added, like the ability to move or copy objects, but for the most part once you get used to the workflow of the application, it is very simple to draw with great accuracy. Once your drawing is completed, its a one step process to email your .DXF or .PDF drawing. Imported into AutoCAD, the .DXF is already layered and can be further worked on without any additional preparation needed. Thank you for an already excellent product, I look forward to future updates.

This has great potential but current version is bad. There are a lot of bugs. prompts you to register as soon as it opens. If I hit register it crashes. This is not the only spot it crashes, lots of the inputs cause this app to freeze or just suddenly turn off. Needs work on usability Ie..could really use a way to skip to next wall to put in size.(I would like to use this system for doing site measures of flooring, where I quickly input walls and size them after) needs to have a scale size in the corner or side, would be good if it could be adjusted to change size of drawing. I often find I get started and have to erase what I have because the scale was to big. would like to be able to write notes directly on page preferably be able to put a line in any direction and write. Would like to be able to import to other CAD systems in my case RFMS or "measure". Have not bought laser measuring tool yet because not sure if this app will get better.

Ive used this app for drafting 1 as built plan, however it is a little finicky. It still doesnt support the new Leica disto e7500i but they say they are working on it. If they do support it, this program has the potential to save me and my customers countless hours. Guaranteed 5 star from me if the new disto gets added, but for now because I still have to enter everything manually, 3 stars. I find it a little tedious for small offset walls but Im sure that is mainly caused of from inexperience with the program

I love the simplicity of this program. I can use it to create an initial room layout and would like to take it several steps further. Inserting objects into the room layout would be nice. 1. Stage Pieces --- Different Sizes --- Different Heights 2. Common meeting room tables. (w/ chairs) --- 6 x 30" --- 8 x 30" --- 10. Rounds --- 12. Rounds 3. Establish Master Ceiling Heights --- High Point --- Low Point

Not a bad start. It needs more work. Drawing walls is easy but editing the walls is a nightmare. The price for the program is too high considering the wall editing problems. The locks for the walls dont work. Need to fix the wall editing where you can lock the wall measurements on the walls that You arent editing. This program has potential if it is fixed. I dont see why you have to have a outside and a inside wall demenition. I believe that is the problem with the walls. If the problem with the wall editing is fixed I will change my review.

After previously being disappointed in this app because the pro version, which I did not see advertised, is the only way to get certain features, I have been using it to create as built floor plans and it is the best drawing app I have used (and I have tried them all). I would love the pro version but for now, the exports allow me to finish my work (add labels and dimensions) using my cad software. I love being able to get a 3d model of it too!

I tried a lot of CAD apps and none of them worked. This is amazing. It doesnt crash, it works easyly, its very easy to use and efficient. Highly reccomended. If you calculate the time it savew you , it is worth every penny!!!

After shopping around this is the first ap I bought to measure as-builts in the field. It works great but there are still a few features it needs like different types of doors (bypass, pocket, double). Overall I think it is worth the money to not miss getting dimensions in the field and to see to mistakes in measuring as you are there.

I just bought this app for 9.99 and this pos wont even start up. It locks out at the opening screen. I read the reviews and now I believe they are not truthful. Fix the app or refund my money. Dont buy this app.

Still the best Ive found for professionals and measuring as builts on site. Its got the most control, accuracy and speed of all the ones Ive tried. (and purchased) Please, please, give us more symbols and the ability to annotate the plans freely. Thats all this is lacking, otherwise I would give 5 stars.

Have tried a bunch of CAD and floor plan apps, but nothing this well thought out. Field measuring for our architectural millwork products -cabinets, mouldings, countertops, etc. Capturing dimensions with a Leica Disto in one hand and an iPhone in the other. Couldnt be easier or faster to create accurate site drawings. Easy exporting to SketchUp and AutoCAD for production. Too cool. A steal at this price. Well done.

Save your $10 and put it towards a real CAD program. Even an old school manual drafting board would be better than this app.

This app has convinced me to never pay more than $.99 for an app. 1. Deleting a file closes the app. 2.This is a 2d program with 3d attributes but you cannot view the file in 3d like other $5 apps. 3. Editing walls is a nightmare. 4. The number of furniture objects is ridiculous considering the cost of the app. 5. No help or instruction files attached to the app. It is clear that the individual giving the 5 star rating must be employed by the developer. We need a zero star option on the ratings scale. Update. After last update a cute little Bluetooth icon now appears. It is very handy for shutting down the app. Just press it. Instant crash. When you restart your plan is inverted, i.e. you now have a mirror image of your plan. Fun. Fun. Fun.

Wall editing is a nightmare best forgotten. No help files. Manipulating walls is horrible. I cant use this program for ANYTHING at all. Amazed they had the guts to even publish this.

The comment of another user is correct when it comes to the Bluetooth. This feature is really a kill switch at present. Hit the Bluetooth button, and app simply closes. Also, contacting support basically serves as another kill switch. No response. I dont know what motivates app designers to release completely defective versions of their product. All it does is destroy their reputation.

Plenty of tools and options to blue print a room or home in 2D. +-1 cm of accuracy. I can even get measures without being on site. The learning curve is petite. Not perfect but it works! Worth the money (Im no arch or designer)

If you need a simple cad system which you can layout one room or your entire house, this is the app for you.All the tools you need and it even exports to 8.5x11 PDF file so you can print your plans. Great Product !

I use this now in the field when taking as-built measurements for remodeling or renovation projects. Not having to re-enter data from hand written notes at the office is a time saver. Takes some getting used to. I sketch the basic room shape, adjust the wall heights, thicknesses and lengths then insert the doors and windows. Saving to a DXF AND EMAILING IT TO THE OFFICE TO OPEN IN THE CAD software is simple. Just another tool for the day.

Many users see the demonstrations for this program and it has the user shooting dimensions with a Leica Laser or similar device and the information updating on the iPad or iPhone. The fact is that scenario is only possible with an accessory bluetook device that costs approximately $250 to make work. Unfortunately this is not noted or mentioned anywhere on these tabs, reviews, or product descriptions (briefly noted on the actual manufacturer website on one of the spash screens). You do NOT need the additional bluetooth device for PC and Androind type phones and tablets, but it should be noted. If the desire is to manually input information into you iPad /iPhone, then the product seems to work as noted.
